Parallel to its rapid economic growth, China has experienced a veritable art boom. In particular over the past 20 years, contemporary art has developed a great diversity of forms and themes. The exhibition, featuring around 70 works from the collection of Herford entrepreneur Heiner Wemhöner at the Museum of Modern Art in Goslar, shows just how multifaceted artists’ engagement with their history, traditions and the present day is. In 2005, he founded a branch in Changzhou, near Shanghai, and owns the largest private collection of Chinese contemporary art in Germany.
