Architecture

The starting point for the architecture of the visible storage was to combine professional storage use with public presentation. The result is an ensemble of two building volumes: the storage building is used for storing and archiving the collection, while the exhibition building provides space for changing presentations from the collection holdings. Both buildings are connected by a colonnade. The brick facade with its striking sculptural structure is a defining feature.

The design is by Hilmes Lamprecht Architekten BDA, with Kirchhoff/Quack Architekten BDA responsible for the execution planning.
