Focus China – Works from the Wemhöner Collection
Location
Mönchehaus Museum Goslar
Curator
Bettina Ruhrberg
In 2021, the Mönchehaus Museum Goslar exhibited selected works by Chinese artists, as well as European artists who offered an external perspective on China. The exhibition presented works from the Wemhöner Collection.
Parallel to its rapid economic growth, China has experienced a veritable art boom. Especially in the last 20 years, there has been great formal and thematic diversity in contemporary art. The global discourses of the international art world have long since arrived in China.
Through approximately 70 works from the collection of Herford entrepreneur Heiner Wemhöner, the exhibition illustrates the rich engagement of Chinese artists with their history, traditions, and current social realities. Four European artists show an external view of China.
