Follow Me Behind the Mirror – Positions of the Wemhöner Collection
Over the past twenty-five years, Heiner Wemhöner has built a collection of around 1,800 works with connoisseurship and openness, spanning painting, sculpture, object art, photography, film, and video art.
The catalogue Follow Me Behind the Mirror. Positions of the Wemhöner Collection showcases this diversity with around 355 color illustrations. Instead of a linear order, curator Philipp Bollmann adopts an open, associative structure. His comparative approach places works in new constellations, highlights interactions, and opens up fresh perspectives.
In his essay Dialogue and Perception, Bollmann unfolds this concept and invites readers to question established patterns of perception. Heike Höcherl’s contribution C’est mon plaisir – Collecting Art, Sharing Passion situates the Wemhöner Collection within the history of private collecting, showing how it enables cultural participation and honoring Heiner Wemhöner’s commitment to carrying this tradition forward in today’s art context.
