A dialogical view of the multifaceted Wemh\u00f6ner Collection<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past 25 years, Heiner Wemh\u00f6ner has built a collection of approximately 1,800 works, encompassing painting, sculpture, object art, photography, and film and video art, with great expertise, curiosity, and openness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The extensive and richly illustrated volume Follow Me Behind the Mirror. Positions of the Wemh\u00f6ner Collection<\/em> presents the diversity of this collection. Instead of a linear order, Philipp Bollmann opts for an open, associative structure. With his approach of comparative viewing, he deliberately places works in new constellations, reveals interdependencies, and opens up unusual perspectives on the collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his introductory essay Dialogue and Perception<\/em>, Bollmann further develops this concept and invites readers to question existing patterns of perception. The volume is complemented by Heike H\u00f6cherl’s contribution C\u2019est mon plaisir \u2013 Collecting Art, Sharing Passion<\/em>, which situates the Wemh\u00f6ner Collection within the history of private art collections. The essay demonstrates how private collecting enables cultural participation and simultaneously acknowledges Heiner Wemh\u00f6ner’s commitment to continuing and developing this tradition within the contemporary art context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
